Kristine Skarbø

I am a PhD candidate in Anthropology at the University of Georgia, and my dissertation investigates how reconfigurations in patterns of culture and climate affect the composition of crops in Andean fields. This project, now in its final stages, builds on my previous research on agrobiodiversity in the Northern Ecuadorian Andes as a Master’s student in Development Studies at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. A farmer by birth, I am interested in paths toward building sound, sovereign and sustainable food systems, and find that there is much to learn in this regard from Ecuador’s Kichwa.
